Looking after your skin and skin concerns

Restore a more youthful appearance with skin treatments in Milton Keynes

The skin on our faces is constantly exposed to elements that can damage it, from direct sunlight to wind, causing dryness, pigmentation, uneven tone, and many other symptoms. Ageing has its own impact, thinning the skin as elastin and collagen production slow. Add to that the facial expressions we pull over and over such as smiling and frowning, which lead to the development of lines and wrinkles.

Because of this, the skin of our faces tends to wear much more than the rest of our bodies and accumulates the signs of damage and ageing over time. At Oxley Park Dental Practice, we understand the boost to self-confidence that skin treatments can bring. A plumper, firmer and more youthful appearance is possible, and within your reach. Skin Treatment FAQs

Skin damage can occur naturally as we age, through exposure to elements such as wind, rain, and sunshine, leaving us with dry, worn, or cracked skin, or pigmentation and an uneven skin tone. Ordinary facial expressions such as frowning and smiling cause wrinkles. In short, life causes skin damage. At Oxley Park Dental Practice, we offer treatments to help reverse, diminish, or hide the signs of wear and age, giving you a fresher, more youthful appearance.

Dr Bechar will consult with you to understand your needs and aesthetic aspirations, after which he will discuss your treatment options and make recommendations. The combination and order of treatments will be tailored to meet your individual needs.

A chemical peel uses acids to treat the skin, removing the epidermis (upper layer) of skin and taking the pigmentation of that layer with it. Pigmentation doesn’t usually penetrate the lower layers of the dermis, meaning that a medium or deep peel will remove more, most, or even all signs of uneven tone.

At Oxley Park Dental Practice, all our clinical procedures are performed by expert clinician, Dr A Bechar. His long years of medical best practice ensure that every treatment he delivers is to the highest standard of safety.

Microdermabrasion is close to painless, with most patients reporting a slight tingling sensation at most. Microneedling can cause a small degree of discomfort in some patients, which is why we apply a numbing cream to the area before beginning treatment. Light and medium chemical peels range from painless to causing slight discomfort, but deep peels can cause a degree of pain, requiring pain control for some patients. Anti-wrinkle injections are minimally painful, causing a mild and temporary stinging sensation at the injection sites.

It depends on the depth and frequency of the peel. Both light and medium peels can create results that last for up to six months, but this doesn’t happen straight away – it takes a few peels to reach this level of longevity. A first light peel might last for 2 months and a first medium peel for 4 months. Deep peels are usually only undertaken for serious health concerns such as growths in the skin, and as such the effects can be permanent.
