The first stage is a consultation with our expert clinician Dr Bechar, during which you’ll agree on how best to enhance your lips. When you’re ready, a topical anaesthetic will numb the lips and surrounding area, and the fillers will be injected and gently massaged into your lips.
Lip fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body which is often found in popular face creams. Hyaluronic acid helps retain moisture in the lips.
In the hands of an aesthetic professional, such as Dr Bechar, lip filler treatment is extremely safe. Because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, allergic reactions are rare.
Most patients tell us that they experience little or no discomfort during lip filler treatment, because the lips are anaesthetised twice – once by the numbing agent in the topical cream, and then by the dermal filler itself, which contains a small amount of anaesthetic.
For some patients there might be minor swelling, bruising, or redness, but these side effects will pass within a few days of the treatment.
Lip fillers are designed to be temporary, dissolving naturally in the body, but they can continue to give you transformative results for 6 to 18 months.
